When coaches make swimming worth it

I joined the country club when I was 5 or 6. Our coach, Jim, taught me how to swim. In an instant, I became a pool rat!  I joined USA swimming and continued to swim in the winter, but summer league is where I enjoyed the pool the most - thanks to Jim.

Jim was also our high school coach and I will never forget when he made me swim the 500 free and the 100 butterfly back to back! The winter break training trips to OU were awful, but made bearable with Jim, Aaron and my teammates. He made me want to become one of the best. He always gave the best advice and support.

After being the captain of the water polo and swim teams, I went on to coach country club swimming.  I even got to teach the Chlorine Deckwear founders' kids how to swim!

To this day I thank Jim for my swimming days from learning how to swim as a 5 year old through my high school years and later as a coach. I have signed my daughter up for aqua tots and she already loves it just as much as I did!
